Day 20 | Philanthropic in Cause

Day 20 | Philanthropic in Cause

Invest In A Child

“Defend the cause of the weak and fatherless; maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed.” Psalm 82:3

A philanthropic man is heroic in defense of the weak and the fatherless. We can do that by investing in children who are oppressed by systemic poverty.

My wife, Kay, and I have invested in the lives of children for more than 20 years.  Our small monthly sponsorship transforms the lives of children by introducing them to the gospel, it pays for a quality education that empowers them to leave poverty behind, and shows compassion for their physical, health, and emotional needs as well.

Jesus said that what we do for a child is the equivalent of doing it for him personally.  Can you imagine the privilege it would have been to be one of the wisemen who invested in the infant child Jesus?  Yet, that is exactly what we are able to do when we invest in the lives of children.

TIPS FOR GIVING

  • Know the recipient.
  • Where will your money go?
  • How much will actually get to the need of the child?
  • Set goals for your giving.
  • Give consistently.
  • Make sure that you hear from the compassion ministry.

If at all possible, take a trip to visit the ministry on the ground.  I have found there are many scams out there.  You must investigate the validity of the compassion ministry.  I have found that LatinAmerica ChildCare is the overall best at what they do.

TODAY’S CHALLENGE

Look into investing a few dollars every month into the lives of a child.
